The difference between motherhood and parenthood

Today, I learned what is the difference between motherhood and parenthood. I wasn't even aware that there was a difference, probably because one is so close to the other. Also, I have been a mother as long as I have been a parent. As a mother, my role is to love, nurture, dry tears, encourage and support them. As a parent, my role is to educate, show the difference between right and wrong and to be a teacher to my children.  Read more >

Being a Young Mom and Facing Judgement

Despite the fact that my daughter is 15, I am only 35. Yeah, I know I am a younger mom. But doesn't mean I am more likely to fail at motherhood. One thing that really bothers me as a mom of 35, is the way other people, mostly women, often feel the urge to teach me how to be a mom and to explain to me how to raise a child.  Read more >

Being a single mom is hard and, most of the time, it is not something you choose. And I know what I am talking about because I've been there and done that. The reason I want to rant is because I just read an article on the Washington Post online (Single motherhood still rejected by most Americans, poll finds) (and no, I can't post the link, Blogger app doesnt offer insertion of link yet) that really pisses me off.  Read more >

Love, Unexpected

Unexpected Love I had been single for almost 5 years when I meet Darth Vader. After a few breakups since I splited with my daughter's father, I was having fun. I had stopped waiting for Prince Charming and was embracing single life. At the time (and still now, but differently), I was in love with my life since I had no more love expectations. When my daughter was with her father, my weekends were spent clubbing, dating, going to the movies and eating out with friends.  Read more >

Interesting fact about me :

When I meet my husband, five years ago, it was his birthday. He lied at me, taking some years away because he was afraid I would find him too old (for crying out loud, I was 29 and he turned 35). And then, he told me that I was going to marry him (note that he didn't ask) someday.

Well, I did make him go on his knees to propose, and I did marry him. Sounds easy : not really. I was leaving in Montreal, Canada and he was living in NYC. One year after your first meeting, he moved closer to me. And he accepted my daughter with open arms, loving her as if she was his. Sweet man, isn't he ?

We are now *almost* living together. :)
