Gabby Giffords: Doing the Right Thing

Doing the right thing isn't easy. Deciding what the right thing might be is even harder. Add brain trauma to the mix and set it all before a backdrop of the media and Congress, and my head hurts just from lining up all the pieces. Monday morning, I had a chance to see it in action, when Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords invited me to finish what we started in Tucson a year ago. Seriously.... You Are Raffling a Glock?

You can read the Huffington Post's take on it, or you can try to find the head of the Republican party in Pima County defending himself on CNN -- for raffling a Glock as a fundraiser. The same type of gun used by the shooter on January 8th in the Safeway parking lot, the same kind of weapon that injured my Congresswoman and killed the 9 year old who was holding my hand.  Read more >

I love carrying a book that I can recommend, especially when my favorite Greek restaurant owner asks if she'll be happy taking it along while she drops her sophomore off at school. This is my literary voice. In my real life, The Big Guy (TBG) and I have two twenty-something Cuters, a Son-In-Rent, one mother (G'ma) and an assortment of psuedonymous friends and relatives. (And if that's not a word, it should be.)  I've lived on Long Island and in upstate New York, in Chicago and Marin and Tucson and I've gardened in each and every one of them.  I lift weights and hike and read .... a lot.
