I'm a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. I've spent the past ten years studying vulnerability, shame, authenticity, and courage. My work has been featured on NPR, PBS, CNN, and was the topic of two recent TEDx talks. I'm also the author of The Gifts of Imperfection and I Thought It Was Just Me.
