A New Slice of Anna Quindlen's Life

I was in awe of Anna Quindlen’s writing when I started reading her syndicated New York Times column, “Life in the Thirties.” Her highly personal yet carefully crafted reflections on being a woman in the 1980s struck a resonant chord. Cooking for Company

Earlier this month, a couple of dear friends phoned to invite us over for dinner. They had a big pot of turkey chili bubbling on the stove and a loaf of cornbread cooling in the oven. About Me:

I'm a nationally published writer with a passion for lifestyle topics -- home and family, creative living, motherhood, and midlife. Early in my career, I was the editor and creative director of Innsider, a national country inn travel magazine.

Since 1984, my columns and features have appeared in more than 70 publications, including The Christian Science Monitor, Better Homes and Gardens, Writer's Digest, Victoria, Reader's Digest, The Detroit News & Free Press, Catholic Digest, Michigan Living, and Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion. My essays are included in Wild with ChildLiterary Mama, Chicken Soup for the Soul, and other anthologies. My own essay collection, Writing Home, won four awards for creative non-fiction.

In addition to freelance writing, I've worked as a background actor in 18 film and television productions. My mixed-media artwork is exhibited in galleries and juried art competitions throughout southeast Michigan, and I blog weekly about creative living at Cindy La Ferle's Home Office: www.laferle.com.
