About Me:
Harriet has spent her professional career working as an economist, policy advocate and educator. Harriet has worked with the Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario governments in Canada, and spent 13 years at the United Nations as a representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Harriet worked on most of the big United Nations international conferences of the 1990’s, including the first UN Earth Summit. Harriet followed many of the United Nations environmental and sustainable development committees for the IMF, at United Nations headquarters in New York and around the world. After a long career in the international arena, Harriet is now refocusing her efforts at the local level. Harriet successfully spearheaded a program with the her local Board of Education to bring recycling into her children's School District. She planned organized and raised funds to build an outdoor classroom at a local elementary school, and is currently helping the school district explore renewable energy options. Harriet sits on several community based environmental committees and chairs the T’Green Olam Committee at her synagogue. Harriet’s new “project” and passion is Climate Mama, a new web-based climate change education, advocacy and advisory organization. Harriet is the founder and Executive Director. In the spring of 2007 Harriet was selected to participate in a training program conducted by Former Vice President Al Gore and sponsored by The Climate Project. Harriet is now one of 3000 people from around the world who have been personally trained by Mr. Gore to educate the public on climate change. Harriet loves hiking, skiing, traveling and all things outdoors.
