Hi, I'm Carol Marks. I live in the south but I wasn't born and bred here. I grew up in a small town in southern Ohio. Landing in Alabama more than 20 years ago, I now call the south my home. I like to consider myself a writer although I am not famously published anywhere. One day I will be though. 

For now, my day job is keeping the lights on. I work as a business manager for a small business in government contracting. I also served five years in the United States Navy where I was stationed in Washington, DC for four years.

I am a mom to two teenage kids (The Girl and The Boy). Their father, and my husband, passed away in June 2005. In the fall of 2008, I remarried a wonderful, kind, and loving man whom I refer to here on the blog as The Gent. He is a true saint for taking all three of us on with no prior experience. I stand in awe of him. He makes me want to be a better person and a better mother.

At Carol Marks Online I hope to keep you entertained and interested in my writing about what's going on here in our area. It is my dream to be a successful writer, preferably a travel writer. There, I typed it out loud for all to see.

Other things I'm interested in; knitting, movie watching, socializing (although my face to face friend network has diminished drastically), networking, Project Runway (even though I have no earthly idea how to operate a sewing machine, nor do I know one stitch about fashion), reading, and, of course, writing. I like writing the best.

For a few years, I lived in dark times but I think the light is finally beginning to shine at the end of the tunnel (when I choose to see it).  I know I’ve messed up as a human being, friend, employee, mother, and wife but I have tried my best to clean up the wreckage of my past. I’m still cleaning. It will always be a continuous effort.

Our family has a dog (Jack) and a cat (Jill). I promise not to blog about them too much. I mainly post about them on Facebook, so I think the blog is safe.

Anyway, play hard but play nice. I really, really dislike nasty people.
