I am a "SAH" mom of two little hoodlums, both of whom joined our family through adoption from China. What began as a vehicle for sharing our adoption stories (blogging) has turned into a lifeline through which I am able to creatively express what it is like to parent children with special needs. I am a social worker by profession, now home with my kiddos partly due to necessity (appointments, therapies, etc.) , and partly because I don't want to miss these early formative years with them (yes, a mixed blessing!)! Nonetheless, I need, need NEED to use my brain and to reach out and share what we're going through here in our little corner of the world. Being an "adoptive family" can be a lonely place, and being an adoptive family with SN kids can be even lonelier.
My husband and I are both "Forty-somethings," and married after our careers were established (he's a school psychologist). We're trying to get by on his income now that I'm home with the kidlings. Every day is a new adventure at our place, filled with lots of life lessons, challenges and opportunities!
