When breast isn't best

During my second pregnancy I saw the slogans everywhere: "BREAST IS BEST," was proclaimed on lanyards, posters, in newspapers, on blogs and in books. I hadn't really noticed this with my first pregnancy. Back then I had every intention of fully breastfeeding. Formula wasn't even on my radar. By my second pregnancy I knew better. I'm a Christian wife and mother who is passionate about eating good food the way it was meant to be eaten - natural, whole, locally grown, organic, sustainably-produced and nutrient-dense.

Although I'm not eating my ideal diet yet, I am on the way. Like others feeding families on a single income, I have to look for affordable options where I can. My small organic vegetable patch helps bring fresh ingredients into our diet, and I'm keen to share some of my favourite recipes and inspirations for living well on this site.
