An Honest Look at Undergarments

Confession: I am wearing knee highs today. Do people even know what those are these days? The thought of actually wearing those today has been bothering me so much so, that I just had to tell you about my undergarments. There's something about the nylons resting just under my knee that feels both wrong and nostalgic....more

Embracing Imperfection

Do you ever blog, or tweet, or pin because you need a creative outlet; a distraction from what might be annoying you, bothering you, or worrying you? Blogging has certainly been a creative outlet for me. It has been a wonderful opportunity for me to express myself, share my ideas, and sometimes just vent. Through my posts I hope to connect with other people who might be thinking, feeling, or experiencing the same things I am or maybe learn something from an opinion different than my own....more

Family DIY Halloween Costume Inspiration

What-to-wear is an everyday challenge. We worry about being dressed appropriately for the weather, being comfortable  all day long, and wondering if anyone will notice you’ve worn the same thing twice in one week.Halloween is a different challenge. We get to be whoever or whatever we want to be. It’s a day of make believe for children and adults!I was inspired by the many families I saw coordinating costumes last year and wanted to participate. My son is too young to tell me what he wants to be for Halloween, but I do know what he likes: SUPERHEROES!...more

Why Mom Can't Sleep

Whenever I mentioned in a conversation that I was pregnant, the reaction was usually the same. They would offer their congratulations and well wishes, but then they would make some comment about how much sleep I would not-be-getting for the rest of my life. With a newborn at home, their warning seemed very true. Children are not automatically programed to know the difference between night and day and they have other late night needs too like bottles, diaper changes, and a little love....more

Smile and Say, Pacifier!

My son attended his first wedding this past weekend. Like any proud mother, it makes me very happy to see others enjoying his company, offering their compliments and praise, and remarking on how much he looks like his father (yeah, lucky kid). Although it seems like another lifetime ago since I had kids, I can sometimes remember the way I used to think about children before I had my own. I would silently question why some parents parented the way that they did. I used to be that single girl attending a wedding and wondering why someone would think it was a good idea to bring their child....more

Shopping Habits of a Mom

Shopping Habits of a MomMay 3, 2012By JenniferI have enjoyed shopping for a very long time. Years ago it was combat boots, stone-washed jeans, and nerdy graphic tees in my shopping bags. Nowadays it’s Converse sneakers, a dry pair of pants, and more nerdy graphic tees. But my shopping bags aren’t for me anymore. They’re usually for my son....more

And I Ran

Exercise; one of the few subjects I have little to say about. I have avoided regular or vigorous exercise my entire adult life. When I was in high school, I picked a maximum weight and vowed to diet and exercise if I ever reached it. Fortunately, the only time I ever reached the maximum weight, I was eight months pregnant....more
