Making Mornings Easier to Manage

A typical weekday in our house begins at the ridiculous hour of 5:45 a.m. The alarm buzzes, announcing that it's time for me to attempt to rouse my 11-year-old middle-schooler from his slumber in a still-darkened house. My gentle shakes and cheers of "Good Morning!" are met with groans and covers thrown back over his head. I remind him of our "no video game rule" (out of bed by 6:05 or no video-game-time after school--hey, it works!). He pulls on his clothes (set out the night before to make our morning go as smoothly as possible) and heads downstairs for breakfast....more

Have You Heard of Tide Pods?

I hadn't and had never thought name brand vs. generic brand detergent mattered until I saw that one Tide Pod removes more stains than SIX caps of the generic liquid brand. (Based on stain removal performance of one pac of Tide Pods vs. 6 doses of the leading liquid bargain brand base variant in a standard top loading machine.) Sold. And then I put one to the test against Sebastian's bibs, Julia's worn-9-times-in-a-row Dora shirt, Simon's scrubs (gross), Theo's blown-out outfits (grosser), and my spit-up-covered shirts/sweaters etc....more

Are You as Ready as I am for Spring?

So, with spring approaching I have been going through my closet and debating what items I'm looking forward to wearing! I'm ready for more pastels, that's one thing I do know. My go-to outfit right now is leggings! No, that's not really an outfit, but it's easy to make an outfit with. No, I don't claim to be able to pull off leggings as pants, so I do always have my toosh covered by my top. You're welcome. I just think leggings are quite versatile. This winter, I've been wearing them with sweaters, sweatshirts, tunics and jackets....more

From Fashion to Laundry

When it comes to fashion there are few things I love more than versatility. I can justify a purchase quickly if I know it can carry me through several seasons and be styled in more than one way. My latest versatile purchase? A pair of mint skinny jeans. I've been wearing them this season with thick navy sweaters and a leopard print scarf over bold patterns. I never dreamed I would love a pair of skinny jeans but I am smitten with this particular pair. As the days warm and the fashion brightens, I'll be using this pair of jeans to carry me into spring, as well....more

Tide Pods Left My Laundry Bright, Not Faded

I’ve had spring on the brain lately, especially since I’ve started to see the spring makeup and clothing offerings from various brands. While I wanted to linger in fall, I seem to want to just skip over winter and get to spring already! I’ve put together a collage of some of my favorite colors for spring. I should be up front and say that I often have trouble finding things I like to wear when I’m shopping for myself. I’m a bit under 5’4”, so I prefer to shop in the petites section for pants and skirts. I’m also pretty curvy, so that can make finding tops that fit a challenge....more

It Really Doesn't Get Any Easier than Tide Pods!

I don’t know about you, but as soon as the holidays end I seem to automatically get a severe case of spring fever. There’s just something about the months of January and February that are so…well, bleh. But, thankfully, with the help of fun tools like Pinterest and fashion blogs, I’ve learned to appreciate these last few months of winter as the perfect time to start planning my wardrobe for the next season…spring! For me, planning a wardrobe for any season always means making good use of what I’ve already got....more

Spring is just around the corner and I can't wait to start wearing all the new trends! Key ones to be on the lookout for this year are black and white combos, sheer details, crop tops, jumpsuits, leather, bold sunnies and peek-a-boo (cut out) pieces. I can't wait to incorporate some of these into my daily wardrobe! Some other trends equally on point for spring are light layers, airy blouses, floral prints and pops of color! In efforts to keep my clothes bright and prevent them from fading I use Tide Pods. Tide Pods are a 3-in-1 detergent that cleans, brightens and fights stains....more

Three In One & a $100 Giveaway!

Even though I am a working mom with 3 young kids, I still try to look stylish, but comfortable each day. My mornings are spent at school, teaching over 150 middle schoolers and my afternoons & evenings are spent taking care of my 3 kids. So, I wear outfits that are versatile, comfortable & can be washed up easily. Dry clean only clothes are out of the question for me. 1. They are usually more expensive & it costs money to clean them. 2. When I used to wear dry clean only clothes (pre-kids...obviously) I would always be nervous about getting them dirty....more

The Death of a Garment Changed Me, Y'all

i own two of the exact same sweater. well, i should really say that i bought two of the exact same sweater. i still own both of them but they are quite different at this point. the sweater i speak of is actually the pink/coral colored one pictured in my first ever fashion post from almost a year ago. at 29.5 i decided to start caring about how i present myself and what my style says about me and how it can affect my day to day emotional well-being. that sweater and ombre tank top combo have for almost an entire year held the place of my security blanket outfit....more

Tide is Gentle on My Favorite Sweater & Gets the Job Done!

Every year, I have a strong tendency to buy something new and fall in love with it. I want to wear it every single day and find new ways to wear it. This year, it's this waffle sweater. I absolutely love the color, the texture, and the fit. I've put together a few possible different ways to wear this sweater. It's great for church, for running errands, or for a date night, just depending on the way it's styled. This first way that I like to wear it is with a simple, black, cotton pencil skirt. The sweater is the perfect length so I don't need a belt....more
