Careful, your genius is showing

Driving home from work we pass several horse farms. This is crazy to me. When I was growing up and living right outside the big city, we used to drive far away to see any kind of open space. Looking back, it wasn't that far. But when you’re a kid if you're in a car for more than 10 minutes it's far away. Now that I live in the sticks, I still find it fascinating that we pass horses, cows, sheep and even llamas during my 15 minute drive into work.  Read more >

I've been recently reading a lot of blogs written by other moms and I've found that many of them do a weekly roundup, usually on a Friday, of all the events from the last week. So, I thought it might be fun to try a little something like that for myself, and since I'm usually nowhere near a computer on Fridays, I think Thursdays will work. I'm calling it This week's lesson. Plastic vs. glass

In today's Mercury, we ran a story about the increase use of glass bottles over plastic bottles because of the concern about a chemical used to make plastic bottles called bisphenol A. According to the article, "bisphenol A, or BPA, is a manmade chemical used in polycarbonate plastic, the material used to make most baby bottles and other shatterproof plastic food containers. Americans are widely exposed to BPA, but opinions on its safety are mixed."  Read more >

Last week I was sitting up with Ryan at about 2:30 a.m. giving him a bottle thinking about how unbelievable it was that he was still getting up to eat in the middle of the night. It seems that once he starts sleeping through the night he gets sick and starts waking again.  Read more >

About Me: 

At 32, I am a working mother of two, Sophia and Ryan, who are only 14 months apart. I also have a 14-year-old stepson. I work full-time as an entertainment editor at a newspaper. Both of my children are in daycare. My family is my greatest joy, but working allows me to more fully enjoy my time with them. I do not think working mothers should feel guilty for working, they should feel empowered that they can work. Just as there are challenges for stay-at-home moms, working moms have their own unique set of challenges.
