I’m a thirty-something year-old Southerner recently transplanted to Washington, DC, from Nashville, TN.  I'm the editor and founder of the fitness blog Whole Iron Woman.  I started the blog while training for my first half-Ironman triathlon (completed in July 2011), but it has since grown to include my own thoughts on training, tips on maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle and other observations as an age grouper triathlete.

I joined my first swim team at age six, started running nearly 11 years ago and bought my first tri bike in 2009.  Over the years, I’ve competed in numerous swim meets, run 10 half marathons and 1 marathon, been a Team in Training member three times and completed 10 triathlons – 5 sprint, 4 Olympic-distance and 1 half-Ironman.  I have a love/hate relationship with my bike, but I’m hopeful we’ll eventually find some common ground.

The Immortal Words of Kenny Rogers…

…You got to know when to hold’em, know when to fold’em, know when to walk away and know when to run. That is such good advice. Too bad Kenny didn’t heed that advice for himself when it came to his plastic surgery decisions. But, I digress… ...more
