Young Carers.....invisible members of society

I work with these ten year old kids (mentioned in the newspaper articles I have pasted into the blog posting....below)....The parents of these kids have mental health and/or drug and alcohol problems......This story draws attention to the plight of all young children who grow up in families with a parent or sibling who has a mental illness. About Me:

Hi ladies (or g'day mates)

I am a community worker in Queensland Australia and work for an organisation that provides arts and music based activities plus support, information and referral to people of all ages in the community who are affected by mental illness or drug and alcohol problems.  My Google blog site is ............................ .... http://beenleighcommunitycomment.blogspot.com/

My philosophy is 'the personal is political' so I am polictically opiniated and socially left of centre.  Haven't really got into the American elections much (only because without a generational background in your politics I would not be informed (or arrogant enough) to begin to know what the outcome should be....or will be.....)......just hope the winner is a humanitarian and not a 'greed is good' advocate.

Our new Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, has not really been in power long enough to have shown his cards yet.  Hasn't exactly overwhelmed us with funding proposals for better social services yet.  We live in hope.

Well enough about me....I am dying to start surfing all these ladyblogs....
