Why I Want to Quit Blogging (but probably won't)

It's true. Some days I think about what life would be like if I quit blogging. I think about how much time I would have to waste doing other things. Why I'm Not Going to Read the TIME Cover Article

You know the one I mean--the one with a picture of a woman breastfeeding a three year old on the cover with the caption "Are You MOM Enough?"  The article/magazine cover first came to my attention last Friday. We were at my in-law's house while our power was out from the storm and a news program came on TV. The broadcaster started talking about the mom on the cover* and (cue the horror movie music) how "she even nursed her two children at the same time!"   Read more >

Encouraging Imaginative Play

As I mentioned yesterday, we're taking part in the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood's screen-free week. The first day of limiting or eliminating her favorite shows (we've done this before) always involves a lot of requests to watch Ernie or Dora or Barney. We simply redirect her attention to another fun activity and eventually she quits asking.  Read more >

Menu Planning: A Week of Gluten Free Meals

It's been difficult coming up with a menu this week. Nothing sounds appetizing to my pregnant belly. But it had to be done and I'm happy with the result. I'm looking forward to trying a few new recipes. I may live on watermelon, avocado, and cottage cheese (like I did last week) but my family won't starve. That's a good thing.   Read more >
