Meal Plan Monday, June 3

A few years ago we had this summer where the weather would be fabulous and warm during the work week. You'd stare out your window and wish you were not working. Then the weekend would roll around and it would rain. Sometimes there would be rain AND thunderstorms. Bonus! That seems to be how weekends are happening right now. I'm tired of rain. Really tired of it. I keep reminding myself that it's probably really good for the local farmers but surely they wouldn't mind if the rain fell a bit more during the week and a bit less on the weekends, right?...more

Dinosaurs, I Love You.

We returned home from a wonderful trip to a music festival where music of all types was around every corner and artists lined up in booths to sell their wares and FOOD from all sorts of places could be purchased and eaten on the grass. We began with Thai and Ethiopian and continued on with Kettle Corn and fried bananas. We had more Thai and Thai iced teas. We sat on the grass. We listened to music. The kids danced and we found more food treats. It was all quite wonderful....more

Pondering Goals for June

Right now I feel ahead of the game.  There's one more (oh crud - only one more) day left in this month in which the only things I have to do are mentally prepare for the month of June.  Admittedly, I felt much happier when there were two more days, but I guess I'll have to adjust to this shortened time frame.I'm also thankful today is Thursday because that means I still have tommorrow to get all the projects done on my to-do list that I want done before the month of June.  I have a far better chance of getting them done on a week day than on a weekend....more

HAIRLESS IS NOT BESTEST! Shaving for summer

An ongoing question topic that the beinggirl.com women’s health experts receive from teen girls concerns shaving their entire pubic area.  What is that about???  Well, it seems that from fashion ads or peer pressure girls think they have to be hairless.   ...more

Do French Kids Really Eat Everything? Find Out How I Made Mealtime Fun Again

Have you read French Kids Eat Everything yet? It's already a game changer for us. With how much I talk (read: gloat) about feeding my kids real food, it might surprise you I have a lot to learn about teaching kids to eat well. Yes, I usually manage to get my kids to eat healthy food, BUT I have come to dread mealtime due to their whininess, messiness, disregard for normal decibel levels and decent personal space, and sibling rivalry that accompany every meal. I was becoming a cross between a hair-raising psycho and a punch-drunk lunatic at dinner, getting into immature discussions with my kids about who was going to get the purple plate and which child would be allowed to sing the third verse of the rainbow song. ...more
