Bethpage Day/Tara Costa 5K - Race Recap

"I run therefore I am" I've done enough 5K's now to know that they are no big deal. There's no surgery required, no bomb wiring necessary, no landing of a 747 jet. So I know that I can relax and just enjoy the atmosphere before a run.  Read more >

It's All About the Yellow

Today is October 2nd.  Today is LIVESTRONG DAY. If you don't know what that means, click here. To sum it up, it’s a day of recognition for those suffering from cancer, survivors of cancer, and people who are trying to end the Big C everywhere. And it is Lance Armstrong's 10-year cancerversary.  Read more >

A Matter of Minutes

I've read so many different opinions out there on how to become a better runner that my head is spinning. "Should I try the C25K again? What about speed sprints? What are these drills everyone keeps talking about?" The best advice I've read so far is to just do it. Yes...and now what?I've been trying to get back into running, but the idea of running 3 miles, when I know I haven't been able to run 2 miles without stopping to walk a bit, is daunting. About Me:
My name is Irene. I am a thirty-four year-old NYC native. I am married and have a two-year-old daughter. At the end of 2007 I decided that I no longer wanted to be the fat, lazy woman in my daughter’s life. There was nothing wrong with me. I didn’t have nay injuries, no thyroid issues – heck – I wasn’t even an emotional eater. I just didn't care. In January 2008 I started watching what I ate, and exercising. I put in 4-5 days a week at the gym, doing aerobics, strength training, and swimming. I also began jogging. In one year I lost 40 pounds. In 2009, I plan on losing the final 47 pounds. It’s not easy, by any means, but it’s fun and I have seen nothing but good results. I ask you to visit my blog regularly. It's not simply about losing weight. I talk about everything that affects my successes or failures, includes family, friends, and the general goings-on in my life.
