Mubarak Resigns: The Egyptian People Have Spoken

Egypt Uprisings: Child in Gaza

On Friday, February 11, against all odds and most predictions, the unthinkable happened: after more than two weeks of peaceful protests, the Egyptian people forced the resignation of Hosni Mubarak, the country's president for over 30 years (though as one tweep, @imPalestine, put it, “He did not step down, he was stepped upon”).  Read more >

About Me:

I am a Palestinian journalist from Gaza, currently based in little Maryland suburb known as Columbia (search Time Magazine...you'll fine it there!).  I am a mother of two percocious kids-7 and 3.  I grew up in several countries in the Middle East-Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, but maintained Palestinian residency, and ultimately came to the United States to study. I returned to work in Gaza as a reporter for Aljazeera English's website in 2003, and returned to the United States in 2007 to re-join my husband, a Palestinian physician with refugee status ,during which time I started a blog about my life as a Palestinian mother and journalist surviving under occupation.  Originaly named Raising Yousuf, it know goes by Gaza Mom, and focuses on Palestine, parenting, politics-and everything in between.  It is the subject of a book by the same name I recently authored.
