Julie Ross Godar

I'm the executive editor of BlogHer, working with the editorial team to find and highlight all you incredible writers, tweeters, video personalities, pundits, photobloggers and ... you name it.

I love my job.

In my extra-BlogHer life I'm also a sometime food and travel writer, an obsessive reader, player of games, maker of pies, and as of March 2011 a Jeopardy! champion (that was fun). (Yes, I actually said to Mr. Trebek, "There are many pies in the universe, Alex.")

My other interests include cooking, camping, cooking while camping words, and history.

Where Were You 10 Years Ago?

The BlogHer editors have been doing a lot of time travel this year, as we continue our Selfiebration of the power of the blogging community while rolling up to our 10 year anniversary conference next month. As we look back over the past decade we find ourselves talking, so often, about who we WERE in 2004, and how we became who we ARE. I've found our team's stories funny and inspiring, with so many "Whoa, I didn't know that!" moments that I wanted to share them with you … and we want to hear your stories, too! ...more

Don't Tell Me They're Not Real: Internet Friends Are Real Life Friends

Don't tell me they're not real. I left a comment on the most random blog post I had ever come across in my many times clicking the "Random" button on LiveJournal. The blogger replied. I replied. Then the blogger's friend replied. I looked at his avatar, this friend of the original blogger, and my eyebrow raised a little bit. The back and forth conversation went on all evening, one comment after the other. Days later, AOL Instant Messenger names were exchanged. Three years later, we stood in front of our friends and family and exchanged vows. ...more
