becoming mama

I've been a mom for four years now and it's been the biggest adventure of my life. in four years I've shed my old skin in favor of a much more comfortable fitting one.I'm insanely in love with the man and boy who made me a mom! they make me laugh from my gut and gush in loving wonder every single day.my dear, sweet, magnificent partner, Mar. he has been my strength and balance. he has been the very definition of hustle and has done a damn good job of taking care of his family on his own terms. my pride is massive.  Read more >

terror as teaching moments?

as a mom, I'm finding my parenting beliefs and concepts challenged and changing on a daily basis. I'm thinking harder about what parenting is and how much of it we do out of habit without taking the time to analyze the 'whys' behind our children's behavior and our own reactions. this is especially the case with discipline. I'm realizing that I hate some of the things we as a society reflexively do to control our kids, much of which involves using terror as teaching moments.   Read more >

days like today I wonder if I'll ever find a true balance in motherhood, my relationship and work. as I write this I'm thoroughly exhausted, grappling with a migraine, wanting to snuggle up with my man but listening to our son tossing and turning trying to fall asleep and it's 11:30pm. yet I feel like I didn't accomplish 90% of what I needed to do today.  Read more >

right now lots of fantastic things are popping up that are making me refocus my attention on writing and that's a very good thing. i need to reintegrate 'myself' into my life, being a stay-at-home-mom i realize that 'mom' and 'home' tend to be the predominate traits in my life. but writing has always been my release and a part of my life so i welcome the chance to allow it a comeback (now of course the lyrics 'don't call it a comeback, i've been here for years!' are running thru my head).  Read more >

I'm a Baltimore, MD native, a mother to a beautiful, preschool boy genius and fiance to a beautiful artist and jack-of-all-trades and these two men are the loves of my life. I am a writer, one of those writers that life has taken off course to every other conceivable job in order to pay the bills and be a fine upstanding adult. But a writer nonetheless. And no matter how far my course may deviate, it always leads me back to where I should be. But my path does lead far and wide; I bounce a lot, vanish for extended periods of time, surface in other states or countries. I could explain my seemingly irrational actions, but then I'd have to kill you.
