As I write this, you are sitting with my daughter, playing and trying to laugh, maybe teaching her to count, and doing all the things that I want you to be doing. You're doing it with a serious physical disability and I truly admire what you are able to accomplish every day. The problem that I have today is this: your mouth is swollen to the point that you can't close it. You've got your tongue off to one side so that you don't accidentally bit down - on your soft, pliant tongue - and cause more swelling in your mouth. You have Read more >

About Me:
Definitions:
- iMommy (n., v., adj.): Defined (in this blog) as the delicate balancing act between parenting and living as a member of the iGeneration while simultaneously dealing with a world that is torn between the iGeneration and "the old ways."
- iGeneration (n.): Also known as the Internet Generation, or Generation Now. Encompasses individuals for whom computer technology is "a given." Technological knowledge usually comes more easily to this generation than our parents and grandparents, creating one of the largest generation gaps since Rock & Roll.
During the course of this blogging adventure, I hope to re-discover my passion for writing. As a child and teen, I wrote short stories, books, poetry, blogs. It has faded as life intruded, and I hope to re-ignite that fire. Writing gives me a sense of peace. Blogging gives me a sense of community and belonging. I will always blog for you as much as I blog for me, because I want to provide you the opportunity to have a community as much as I would like it for myself.
I am blogging because I feel that I have something to say to the world, on my own terms, in my own time, with my own style. I will blog to chronicle the precious early years of my daughter (2 already) and my NewBaby (due November). I am blogging because I can. I am blogging because it feels like an iMommy / iGeneration right of passage. I am blogging because I need something to help me gain perspective on my life. I am blogging because (hopefully) you are reading, commenting, thinking, and enjoying my blog.

Personal:
As part of the iGeneration, I'm considered "young" by many mothers out there -- especially with more women becoming mothers later in life -- I'll be nearly 24 years old when my second child (convinced it's a girl!) is born. My husband and I married soon after I turned 20, and I had my daughter at 21.
It's been a wild ride, to say the least.
I come from a "broken" family - that is, my parents separated and then divorced when I was 4. I am very close to my mother (a blessing and a curse!) though events in the past 5 years have put some distance between us, and more distance between my brother and my sister and I. My mother is also disabled with severe Fibromyalgia. I'm still understanding how it has affected me personally - I know that I cannot ever fully understand the impact that it has had on her life.
My husband is originally from Florida, and we now live in Massachusetts. We desperately want to get out! We're thinking Texas, maybe. Or North Carolina. (Any suggestions? He's in IT and I could do my job anywhere.) We won't be able to move for at least a year though, so for now we're renting an apartment (after a few busts, we lucked out on a really beautiful place). That means I can spend my Saturday mornings blogging instead of mowing the lawn!
I went to college for Music Education, but have since changed to simply Education, in order to complete my degree online and be able to work full time. (Babies are expensive!)
