Jennifer Sando

I am a wife and mother of three busy boys.  After living in "life happening to us" mode (aka chaos) for a couple of years now, I am committed to finding the middle ground.  The sweet spot between magazine or pinterest "perfection" and a complete free for all.  That is what this blog is about.  The sweet spot.  Finding the balance for our families that makes sense, intentionally.  (Because, really, if you swing too far in either direction, you end up in the same place, bat "poop" crazy.)

5 Reasons I Need A Hamster Like A Hole In My Head

My big boys are trying to rope me into getting them a hamster by being so inventive in building their own hamster house. For the love of Pete, I need a hamster in my house like I need a hole in my head. We already have three boys (if I stopped there, that would be enough), a dog, and two chickens. ...more
Hamsters are nocturnal animals, they need things to chew on, and plenty of room to move around. ...more

5 Ways To Cultivate Joy

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of spending three days at a Bible Study Fellowship Leaders Conference.  Amazing does not even begin to describe the experience.Meanwhile, my husband was holding down the fort at home.  In addition to the regular responsibilities, shuttling kids to games and practice, making sure everyone was fed, etc., I imagine my guys spent a considerable amount of time jumping on the trampoline, watching movies that mom may not approve of, and playing Minecraft....more

11 Scriptures to Pray for Your Child

Sometimes, I wonder if we made a mistake purchasing our house eleven years ago. It's not in the best school district, we could have found a better "deal," we are rapidly outgrowing it. However, when I think about the godly women placed on this street and what they have taught me, I know that we are in the right place. One sweet neighbor taught me not to just promise prayers. If I ask her for prayer, she prays. Right then. She also taught me about the power of using God's Word to pray, inserting our husband's or our children's names into the Scriptures as we pray. ...more

What I Wore To School Drop Off

Lately, I have noticed many a blogger doing "What I Wore" series.  What I Wore Wednesday.  What I Wore To Church.  What I Wore on my glorious beach vacation that you didn't get to take.  Sucka!  (Ok.  I just made that one up.)  All of these women look beautiful, and put together, and not at all what I look like on a Monday morning.  So, I've been contemplating doing a "What I Wore To School Drop Off" series each Monday.  ...more

On Amy Glass, Stay-at-Home Moms, and Feminism: When Will We Stop Judging Each Other?

An article written by Amy Glass, "I Look Down On Young Women With Husbands And Kids And I’m Not Sorry," has been making the rounds as of late. She contends that those of us that choose marriage and a family over focusing solely on ourselves and our professional goals are "being applauded for doing nothing." ...more

Worst Road Trip Mom Ever

My family recently drove from Fort Worth, TX to North Dakota.  Like, almost to Canada, North Dakota.  I’m not going to lie, on the way TO our destination, I rocked.  We were ready to go early.  We had nutritious snacks and beverages waiting for us in the car.  We read stories and played games.  It was awesome.  ...more

New Year's Resolutions

It was a dark, rainy day in May.  My big boys were in school and I spent the morning driving an hour away, picking up a chicken coop and driving an hour back.  It was in that hour back that I realized I forgot the Mother’s Day brunch at my son’s preschool.  I hurried to the school and ate lunch with my son instead.  His teachers assured me that he was okay.  He was just excited about the new chicken coop.  But, I was devastated.  I let my son down.  He was the only one without someone there for h...more
