The Variety Club Telethon- Callie's Contribution

My niece, Callie, is a child who has experienced a lot in her first years of life. As a result there are many resources involved in her care. Her mother, Rhonda, managed to coordinate  two fundraisers in their community this past year in support of one of those resources – Variety – the children’s charity. Friends, family, school and anonymous donors managed to raise over $8000!  Read more >

My Thursday Feels Like A Monday

Why do I feel like its Monday all over again? This was a drag myself out of bed day. I swear if I didn’t feel so guilty about not doing some form of work I would have rolled over after looking at the alarm clock and buried myself under the covers. I considered it, but then I went through a mental list of all the reasons why that would be a bad idea and coaxed myself down the stairs for tea and cereal. In the company of Women

In the company of women I feel stronger. There is just something about spending time with women that brings me back to both a healing and invigorating place. I don’t mean to sound as if I’m flying out there in la, la, land but women hold some incredible power and despite how much we talk about this power, I still don’t think we fully celebrate it. Elderly Couple Reunited - Love Conquers All

Wonderful news since my last post! After hearing about the elderly couple Ken and Dusty McKay, who after 62 years of marriage had been placed in separate care homes by Interior Health, I am elated to now report they are reunited. I’m sure this comes as a result of both media attention and public outrage as there was some pressure to bare on the health authority.  Read more >

Blogging began for me in 2008 when I launched Esteem Rising which explores a variety of topics along with featuring Women of Influence and Charities. I also write a monthly column for TimeFinders Magazine. My key interest is in women's lives.

For over 15 years I have worked in the career development field and own Jennifer Chandler Consulting which provides career consulting and group workshops to clients, businesses and not-for-profit organizations. I have been a contributing career coach for More Magazine for Women, Canada's Chatelaine Magazine and for a CanWest Global Newspaper series on Baby vs. Career.
