Information
I’m Kathy Gillen and I’m passionate about feeling good. Wellness is waking refreshed with enough energy to enjoy the abundance of my day. When we make our health a priority, vitality follows. I hope you’ll hop in the passenger’s seat and travel with me. www.wellnessroadtrip.com
My journey to a healthy lifestyle began when I was young. We had a huge organic garden. I actually ate rutabaga and Swiss chard as a kid. I learned to cook fresh food straight from the garden and enjoy the different flavors. I loved to cook so much that I received a minor in food management along with a business degree.
A bunch of years, and four babies later, my Wellness Roadtrip took on new meaning. I’d been making my own baby food and convincing my three older kids that broccoli was a treat, when my fourth child was diagnosed with a mitochondrial disease. Her cells didn’t metabolize food properly. I spent the next several years becoming an expert in cellular function. While the doctors predicted a two year life expectancy from this degenerative disease, I shoved fish oil and tofu/kale smoothies down her with a good dose of hope.
Now eight years later, my daughter Merritt Joy, has never been hospitalized or suffered from any of the debilitating viruses the doctors feared. She is highly disabled, but very healthy.
While my daughter’s condition could have been the flat tire that ruined my journey, it instead became the impetus for the ride of my life. I believe everyone can benefit from the same basic health principles I use to keep her healthy.
