Private Club also known as Black America

For eight years I have knocked on Black America's door in hopes that someone would let me in. Instead, I keep getting a "thanks but no thanks" card in the mail. I have forged several meaningful friendships with women of color since I moved to America. However, I am disappointed with my interactions with most black people since I moved to America. I am disappointed in constantly having to justify and defend my blackness. realize now that I came here with extremely unrealistic expectations, that have influenced my reactions to these situations. I have sought community all my life.  Read more >

About Me:

I am a social entrepreneur!

I am a writer, consultant, speaker, connector and social justice advocate who lives relationally, promoting diversity and inclusion, building bridges where there are non, and helping people and organizations who wouldn’t naturally join forces recognize how their partnership can affect positive change in their communities.

I work with clients who are committed diversity and inclusion and are seeking high quality, professional, results and mission driven, and culturally-competent strategic fundraising, communication and marketing services for their communities and organizations.

I have a decade of experience in developing and executing annual fundraising campaigns, board development, strategic planning, special events management, and marketing communications, with the utmost emphasis on integrity and attention to detail and results.

I was a panelist at BlogHer09 and various diversity panels in Philadelphia, New York City, Chicago, San Diego, Washington, D.C., and Houston. In my spare time I enjoy reading (check  me out on GoodReads), cooking (I make an amazing Macaroni & Cheese and Chicken Marsala) and traveling (I recently fell in love with the Adirondacks). I was born and raised in Germany and currently reside in Philadelphia, PA (recently returned). I am planning my big move to Atlanta early next year!

Online, my personal writings can be found at The Diversity Projekt. This is my personal space in the universe where I share stories about the ways in which I navigate the world as mixed, queer, trans-national and multi-cultural. I share my struggles, my successes and my failures. In telling  my own stories of standing up AGAINST racism, homophobia, sexism and classism and FOR rights, empowerment, diversity, education, economic strength, and choices for women, I hope  to provide individuals with the language and tools necessary to contribute to promoting human diversity in their own communities.

I recently realized my dream of launching a consulting agency, through which I am able to help non-profit organizations, businesses and individuals who are passionate about what they do and have an insatiable drive to make their families, communities and the world healthier, happier, safer and stronger. Check me out - HERE!

From time to time I reviews books, documentaries and films related to all things diversity on on KI Consulting. If you’d like me to review, interview or otherwise discuss your work check out , send an email to: kathrin at kathrinivanovic dot com.
