Our Young People Don't Deserve AIDS

Being a teenager nowadays is completely different than when I was making my way through my golden years (only 10 years ago). Our teens are facing sexual challenges and peer situations earlier and earlier in life. And, if we want to reach them, then we have to let go of our prejudices against them and set the lack of understanding aside. Too often, I hear older adults write off the teenage crowd with statements like “These young people are out of control,” or “We can’t help them because they just don’t want to listen.”  Read more >

The Power of a Positive Existence

Growing up in a faith-based household, we were exposed to a constant truths and lessons about how to treat others and how to grow our faith. But, none was more important in our household than the creed to speak life and not “death” over our lives. You see, my mother battled multiple sclerosis since before my sister and I were born, and the disease, by nature, was a degenerative disease meaning that as we and she grew older, her MS would no doubtedly get worse.  Read more >

Turn Your Living Space Into A Giving Space

Everyday, we stumble into the world to work, play, eat, and everything in between. But, no matter how much fun we have in the streets, there's really is no place like home (Thank you, Dorothy). About Me:

I'm a twenty-something native Chicagoan with an obsession with all things fashionable and charitable. I left my job in the Fall of 2008 to chase my dreams of working in nonprofit marketing/PR (my way) and I think I'm doing a pretty great job at creating my own path! I'm a communicator by training and nature, having worked in advertising, marketing, and sales, and think social media and networking is THE most amazing thing right now! When I'm not writing (which seems like every minute of the day), you can find me enjoying EVERYTHING Chicago has to offer from museums to all the great food and shopping.

If all of that is too hard to remember, then you can see by abbreviated bio below (courtesy of my Twitter page):

Chicago Philanthopy Examiner. MarCom junkie. Stiletto stalker. Volunteering fanatic. MacBook maven. Charity blogger on a budget!
