My name is Kelsi and my family and I are on a quest to live as naturally as we can. It is not something that happens automatically; rather it is a process to change from living like most other families to making environmentally conscious decisions about nearly every aspect of our life.
My site is called koofie because it is the nickname given to me by my brother when I was growing up. Many people know me by my first name, but only those that know me best call me Koofie. Those are the people have seen me gradually migrate to a “greener,” more eco-friendly lifestyle. My website, koofie.com, is where I share all the things I learn to help others make less of an impact on the planet. You can learn from my trials and errors! Besides “greening” myself, I love gardening, reading, spending time with my family, and I’m even learning to like housekeeping and cooking.
I live in central MD, near the city where I grew up. I have also lived in South Florida and Knoxville TN, where some of the seeds of my eco-friendly lifestyle were planted. It’s our first year in a new (to us) house and immediately upon moving in we started making changes. There are many more “greenovations” in our future as we work to make our house the most earth-friendly we can.
My family is made up of myself, my husband Chuck, our six year old daughter Ari, two year old daughter Abby, and two Australian Shepherds Rory and Blue. Some things we do at home regularly are cloth diapering, cleaning with cloths not paper towels, use cloth napkins, and we keep few chemicals to clean our house. We aim to make more changes in the coming years.
In “real life” I spend Mondays through Fridays working as a middle school teacher, except in the summer when I am happy to become a temporary-stay-at -home Mom.
