My name is Kelly Phillips Erb - if you were at BlogHer 07, you might have met me as taxgirl (www.taxgirl.com) - and I am the new Channel Editor at the Business Channel for b5media. I'm expanding the channel with some very specific topics. Art and Commerce - Getting a Jump on the Session

Taking a cue from the political bloggers who have started asking questions already about their topic (smart!), I thought I would do the same. Denise Howell, Liz Gumbinner and I will be presenting an Art and Commerce session on Day 2 (in Room 205, stop on by!) with Nina Smith as moderating. We're planning to discuss some of the practical considerations of making money while blogging. In preparation for the session, I'd love to hear what kinds of things you're wondering about in advance... Tax issues? Copyright? Marketing? I'm looking forward to a lively, informative chat...  Read more >

About Me:
I'm Kelly and I am (gasp) a tax attorney.
I live and work in Philadelphia, PA. I moved from the rural South to attend Temple University School of Law where I earned my J.D. and my LL. M Taxation (a fancy way of saying Master's Degree in Tax). Since law school, I've clerked with IRS, worked in private practice for a couple of law firms and a trust company. One day, I convinced my husband - who is also an attorney - to quit his job and open a law firm with me. Imagine my surprise when he listened to me (that never happens).
Well, maybe he listens to me once or twice, because we decided that having a law firm together wasn't crazy enough. We also got a dog, got married and had three children. Yes, in that order.
My husband says that I often talk about my family as though you know who everybody is, so here's the quick rundown: The dog's name is Lyle. My oldest daughter is Katie. My middle child is Amy. The baby is Charlie. And my husband is Chris. So, now you have no excuse when I drop names.
When not working, chasing the kids or volunteering, I love to travel. I like to dig in the dirt, and occasionally raise a decent flower or two in my garden. I also enjoy the occasional martini, but somehow listing drinking as a hobby while in your 30s just sounds sad.
In my spare time, I blog. A lot. It's a sickness.
I blog about tax at taxgirl.com. I swear it's not as boring as you think. It's all the dirt on tax news, tax policy and tax information. I even answer questions.
My personal blog, where it all started, is lawmummy.com, where I blog about being an attorney and a mom.
I promised my husband no more blogs (for now). So instead, I'm working on my second novel and a book about taxes.
Did I mention that I drink a lot of coffee?
