The Day After

I lay awake with a blanket over my head. I can already tell that it is going to be a beautiful day because of the sunlight pouring through holes in the blanket. I don't talk. I don't move. For more than an hour, I just lay there, perfectly still, like a horizontal statue, listening to the voices of my husband and mother as they talk in another room. After a while, my body is stiff from not moving, so I uncover my head to take a look at the beautiful day that beckons outside my window. From past experience, I know that there is no certainty that I will have an opportunity to enjoy this day.  Read more >

Fibromyalgia: The Visitor That Won't Leave

It's time that I come clean and stop tiptoeing around the subject. I mean, if I had an employer, I couldn't keep silent about my absences. So, I feel that it is only fair that I do the same on my blog. I have to fess up and talk directly about a subject that is always on my mind but I pretend to ignore. It's the reason that it has taken me days to write this post.  Read more >

What ifs

I am new to BlogHer and relatively new to blogging so if I've erred in adding this post from my blog here, I apologize in advance for my unintentional mistake. I am just trying to find my way, and if I did err, I figure that someone can (I trust gently) point me in the right direction @seekingmyquerencia@gmail.com. Blessings.  Now, let's get back to that post.  Read more >

About Me:

Hello! I am new to blogging and the blogosphere. I was born in New Orleans, but I currently live in the Texas Hill Country with my husband and Mother, as well as two cats, a very fat cat named "Charlie Moe" and his BFF "Chevy." I am mother to three and g'mom to two, Vanessa and Daisy. Until 2/19/04, I was a practicing litigation attorney dealing with fibromyalgia and migraines. Since then, I've been an attorney on 'inactive' status, using writing to deal with the many limitations, changes and feelings brought by the illness. I have been at a standstill for too long now, but I am ready to move forward on my path.

I started a life blog as a way to purge my mind of the relentless thoughts, ruminations and senseless info that fills it. It serves as a small part of my journey-another avenue for me to write down my feelings and perhaps share them with others so that they might know the authentic me. The me that enjoys reading, yoga, spending time with family and friends, cooking, sitting on my deck as a cool breeze wafts by, watching the sunset, watching a moonlit sky peppered with stars, laughter, life, giving without expectation, and so much more.

There comes a journey...And there also comes the urge to write it down, to bear witness to our experience, to share our questions and the insights that come from questioning. ~Christina Baldwin. My blog serves that purpose.  I have a life to dissect and an inner world to explore. Come join me at http://www.seekingmyquerencia.me.
