Late Night Jump Off

I know I’ve been a little slack with my writing the past week or so, but I’m trying to get back on track. Of course, when I have crazy stories to share, I immediately find my way back to my blog. As I mentioned in a previous post Xavier (my 18yo son) was liberated when he finally got his car out of the shop.  Read more >

Computer Love - Two Years and Counting!

Two years ago, the day before Thanksgiving, I went on a self-inflicted blind date. Both of the boys were gone and I found myself alone for the holiday. That lucky guy was Dexter Vines.  Believe it or not, we met online and after several online chats, he decided he wanted to speak over the phone. I assumed he wanted to hear my sultry voice. LOL  Our first conversation was very down-to-earth, laid back without any clichés or formalities. It seemed we had known each other for at least six months, instead of a few weeks.  Read more >

Adding My Teen Driver To My Car Insurance

I was not prepared to hear the news I received the day I called my car insurance company to add my 18-year old to my policy. The customer service rep, politely told me that my policy would increase from $1200 to $2700 for six months! As you can imagine, I nearly passed out! After speaking with a few people about my situation, they all suggested that it was probably because they added him as a driver of my car: a 2005 Nissan Maxima and not the car I recently got for him: a 1994 Honda Civic. So, I called them back to see if that was the case. The insurance company gave me a quote with my son as a driver of the Honda versus my Maxima and told me it would drop from $2700 to $2087. For my budget, that’s still too high.  Read more >

Love, Patience and Alzheimer's

A week ago, I was watching the “Sex and the City” episode “An American Girl in Paris (Part Deux)”. The scene where Steve takes his mother to the ER and discovers she unknowingly suffered a stroke that caused her to have significant memory loss, made me think of my paternal grandmother and grandfather. My grandfather (known as Pa-Pa), was diagnosed with Alzheimer's before passing away in 2000 and now my Grandma suffers with the disease along with RA. At her request, she still lives in the same house that she and my grandfather shared for many years. My dad along with my aunt and uncle take care of her daily in shifts.  Read more >

About Me:

Welcome to my world! For 16 years, I've lived in Atlanta, GA with a short stint in Yonkers, NY, but my hometown is Birmingham, AL. I'm a mother of two handsome young men, Xavier (18) and Zachary (15). I love them with all my heart and soul. They are the reason I continue to push forward everyday to ensure they are well balanced individuals.

In this blog, I want to share my experiences as a SuperMOM. My plan in the future will be to share other mother's experiences on my blog as well.

We, as mothers, come in many different forms. We are single. We are married. We are partners. We are young, old and in-between. We are grandmothers raising our grand-kids. We are aunts raising our nieces and nephews. We carry so much on our shoulders everyday and we need a way to embrace what we have become, what we do on a daily basis for our families and celebrate one another to empower, uplift, and be proud.

We are ALL Bona Fide SuperMOM's in our own right!
