Damn You, Barbie!

This morning, as I battled to tame her deliciously curly brown hair for school, Baby G very sadly uttered: “Mama, I wish I had long, straight yellow hair and blue eyes.” That one sentence halted my world. ...more

American Education & The Need to Learn How to Learn

A version of this post was published at Urban Moo Cow as part of the Around the World Parenting Blog Carnival. Several bloggers got together to discuss parenting and our thoughts on Christine Gross-Loh's new book, Parenting Without Borders. This week we wrote about education. Transform Regret Into Action

On Adam Lanza, Mental Illness, and My Son

Toddler Tales: My Mommy Threw a Tantrum

It all started the other day when my mommy did not sleep so well. I can't imagine why. She was only in my room half the night, waiting for me to nod off to slumber land. I've never been to this land of slumber. I think it's a place for mommies to go and take a nap when they are tired. So the next morning, while making my breakfast of microwaved pancakes, she spilled a mug of smelly brown water all over the kitchen floor. Then she used a potty word. ...more
