Now, this isn’t the first time that this has happened to me. The “but you’ve got such a pretty face” write-off. As if my face discounts the size of my body, or my life-long struggle with weight. About Me: 

I am a twenty-five year old who lives in Boston, MA. I graduated in 2007 from The College of Wooster with a BA in English. Since then, I've spent my time waiting tables/pouring wine/driving a cab/hula hooping/helping other people learn to love themselves more as I describe my daily battles with body image, self esteem, and healthy living on my blog Medicinal Marzipan. Currently working towards my masters at Simmons School of Social Work. 

 

Two facts about me that may surprise you are:

I was stung my a four inch scorpion - and besides twenty minutes of blackout pain/rage/rant, I healed in 24 hours.

I am a professional hula hooper/hoop fitness instructor, and own a little hula hoop factory based out of my living room.
