THE NIGHT I MURDERED THE STRONG BLACK SUPERWOMAN INSIDE OF ME

Tonight I am going to kill the strong, Black, superwoman inside of me. This was the opening line of a journal entry that I wrote about twenty years ago.  It was one of the wisest decisions that I have made regarding my sense of self and well being. On the night that I scripted that particular entry I had come to a point of realization.  That  female identity was doing me more harm than good.  We weren't working like one person.  She were working against my best interests in life. Only I didn't realize this until I was almost completely drained.  Read more >

STOP TRYING TO BOX ME IN! THOUGHTS ON MAKING CHANGES IN MY PROFESSIONAL LIFE

Who taught younger generations of people that older people do not have the ability to change?    I have found myself asking this question a lot over the past few weeks.  I am in the beginning stages of re-directing my work career.  I do not honestly want to return to teaching in an Early Childhood setting.  I love working with children.  I have done so for well over two decades of my life.    There comes a time when going through the change of life is not menopause related.  It is a matter of looking at things  Read more >

About Me:

I am still a work in progress. One that is now wiser and grateful for the seasoning of time.

I'm just a woman who is living a life up under the sun.  Watching as the day close  out across the skyline while making plans for tomorrow in the hours before the dawn.

By my own defintion, I am simply just a global citizen.  Which could mean nothing or everything in the moments of time. It will always depend on how I do or do not respond.  Keeping silent during times of distress and grief, is not a pact that I have ever been able to make with anyone.  I will speak out. My thoughts will not be secluded or fearful of different opinions. I am strong enough to endure the difference because of this American life that I am living.
