I am a perfectionist who is far from perfect and I am always my own worst critic. I am frugal, not cheap!  I enjoy carbohydrates, staying fit and watching movies; ideally all at the same time.  Gymnastics is my favorite sport.  I'm a wanna be world traveler and author.  Just as soon as I finish that novel.

I blog about life, love, the pursuit of happiness, reality TV, home decor, money, shopping and anything else that pops into my head.  Everybody has a story and this is mine. I've been keeping journals and diaries since the age of 9.  Of course I have a blog.  I blog because I love to write. Always have, always will.

Spring Dresses I Had to Have

I might have gone a little crazy, but I never expected that I would find so many dresses I liked this season. I used to hate dresses, and I have a bunch of dresses in my closet I haven't even popped the tags on … but that's all changing now. Simply put, I love dresses! They can be casual. They are comfortable and easy. It's all one piece, so you don't have to coordinate a top and bottom. These spring dresses are all leggings-friendly, too, so I can wear them year round. It takes me a while to come around to certain things … but once I do, I'm all in. ...more

I Would Love to Be a Housewife. There, I've Said It.

Why do I feel so guilty and so old-fashioned admitting that my week as a stay-at-home wife was awesome? I felt healthy. I was able to cook my own meals, do yoga while I watched reality TV, go outside to garden, ride my bike to the store, and take dance class. I felt relaxed. I didn’t feel any outside pressure, no one was around (except for my two gigantic cats) to stress me out, and I was able to visit my mom more often, which made her and me happier. I was extremely productive....more

Goodbye Paleo and Hello DASH Diet: Nutrition in 2014

As we go into our second week of 2014, what's on the forecast in diet and nutrition? The prediction most likely to have already come true is that many people have made "getting in shape" and "eating better" their New Year's resolution. Beyond that, what can we expect to see this year? ...more

Why I Like Being a Small Blog

I haven't been posting a whole lot. But that's okay. I can do that. We don't like to but sometimes we just can't help comparing ourselves to those blogs that earn money, have thousands of page views per day, get a ga-zillion comments or boatloads of free stuff. That is all well and good, but it comes at a price that some of us little blogs don't have to pay. I realize that "small" or "large" when referring to blogs is subjective, but I think we have a general idea of what category our own blog fits into. Here are some reasons that I really like being a little blog. ...more

I Don't Go To The Gym

In 2009, I worked out exactly one time. Terrible, I know. Even worse, the only reason I did it was because my mom dragged me to a yoga class. I didn't work out again until around September of 2010. I started slowly, with exercise videos at home. Still not very consistently, though. It wasn't until January 2011 that I actually started going back to the gym and working out regularly. We get so little of time to ourselves, especially during the week that I just didn't want to spend it at the gym....more

Court States You Can't Get Raped in Skinny Jeans

People have connected clothing to rape for years, usually from the angle that the woman must want sex due to what she's wearing. Taking the discussion a dangerous step further, an Australian court acquitted Nicholas Gonzales of rape charges based on the idea that skinny jeans are so difficult to get off, that the woman would therefore need to consent to sex if the jeans were removed. In other words, the denim chastity belt defense. ...more

High Tech Panties Won't Stop Rape

There is currently an Indiegogo campaign created by AR Wear for a line that they call Anti-Rape Clothing. These garments, which include a pair of boy-cut brief-style panties, running shorts, leggings and “travelling shorts,” are allegedly designed and built to be unremovable except by the owner, who has some sort of key to release the locking mechanism on the waistband. Basically they act as a chastity belt, although of course we are not supposed to think of them as chastity belts....more
