I was very skeptical about A Jane Austen Education. One, it was a book about Austen, the most feminine author in history, written by a man. Two, it was ANOTHER modern book about Jane Austen and honestly they almost always fail to measure up. Caleb's Crossing by Geraldine Brooks is easy to read but still intellectual -- that is book review code for ‘not boring and you might learn something’.
