If there's one thing I know a little something-something about, it's packing. I am, in fact, a champion packer. I should probably tell you right now that this story is going to be a little bit gross. If you have eyes, and I assume you do, the odds are fairly high that you are going to squinch them shut quite suddenly while reading it, not unlike a man who flinches and subconsciously reaches protectively for his testicles whenever he stumbles across the word "castration." Over the years, I've taken a whole gossip magazine's worth of celebrity pictures to my various hair appointments. Nicole Richie's shoulder-length bob has accompanied me on many a visit, as has Katie Holmes' layered shag; heck, I've even taken pictures of various bloggers--don't worry, I asked first--passing the photos off to my stylist as "....uh, my friend's hair. I mean, my acquaintance's. I mean, well, see, I know her from online. I mean....oh god, never mind. Anyway, do you think this will work for me?"  Read more >

Holly Burns has a British passport, an American driver’s license, and the tendency to experience a minor identity crisis whenever people ask her where she’s from. Born in England, she grew up all over Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and is very likely scarred for life after attending ten schools before her tenth birthday.
