My Marrow Story - Now We Wait

I went in to give a blood sample on Tuesday.  The National Marrow Donor Program arranged for me to visit a lab that was close to my home and assured me that I didn’t need to bring anything with me.  The sample will be analyzed to see not only if I’m a match for the patient but also if I have any diseases that could be communicated to the patient.  There are some infectious diseases that don’t affect normal people that much - they may not know that they even have them.  However, patients with leukemia have weakened immune systems and passing something on could have fatal  Read more >

I got a call yesterday from a representative at the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP).  I never answer my cell phone at work.  I still don’t know why I picked up the phone.  When she identified herself and told me why she was calling, tears welled up in my eyes.  I am a potential match for a 16-year-old boy with leukemia.  Read more >

Do you use a separate email address

Hello All!I am setting up my blog and developing content for it.  Do you use a separate email address just for your blog and direct emails to it?  I don't like the idea of having a separate inbox to check.  However, I'm a tad paranoid about having my personal email address out on the interwebs.  It would probably be safer for me to funnel traffic for all the emails I fantasize about getting.  How do you handle this on your blog?Thanks!  Read more >
