About Me:

I blog and write a weekly newspaper column about being a locavore (a person who eats only locally grown food whenever possible) in Whatcom County, WA (Bellingham area). Called Whatcom Locavore, my blog features one new menu and the accompanying recipes each week using local foods and listing sources. My daughter Joan does the photography, and together (along with my grandson Sam) we have a lot of fun touring local farms, visiting farmers markets, meeting wonderful people, and eating some of the best food we've ever tasted!

I also have been a web developer for over 15 years, and make paintings to share the beauty I see everywhere. I live on an island paradise in the Pacific Northwest where bald eagles, great blue herons, and singing coyotes are part of the daily experience. My daughter, grandson, and I share a beautiful straw bale home surrounded by wonderful friends in place where community matters.
