It started out a great day. I told Maddie that we were going to the gym, and she told me that she would rather go to the mall. Music to my ears, I tell you. This was the day I had been dreaming about. She decided that since she was a big girl, she needed to carry her purse. With 2 tubes of princess lip gloss and a hand mirror. Shortly after Maddie started talking, we learned that if we didn't want her to repeat what we said, we needed to spell it. And we've gotten pretty good at it. So good, in fact, it's become part of our daily language. We make sure we don't mention people's names- we just use their initials. We try not to use words that we don't want her to say.
