I am a city slicker living the country life after having moved from Norfolk, VA to Cropwell, AL.  We went from a city that had houndreds of thousands to a town that has a couple thousand.  Life in Virginia included a Wal-mart a mile down the road and a Starbucks on every corner; but life in Alabama means a 15 minute drive to Wallie World and Starbucks is at least a 40 minute drive on a good day.  Running to town consists of me making a plan and not just going to one place as it truly is a waste of gas.  And my least favorite thing about living so far out of town is that if you order pizza from Papa John's you have to meet them half way as they don't deliver to our neck of town because it is too far. 

There are benefits to living in the country though, I don't have a neighbor ten feet away and it is quiet.  Rarely do I have to deal with traffic unless it is a combine tractor switching fields and the folks down here are real friendly. 

My husband and I enjoy sitting on our front porch and just watching the world go by during the warmer months.  And our house is the safe refuge for my parents and kids when they need to get away.

I work from home and my husband works in the big city so he drives about 40 minutes to work 5 days a week.  We have one daughter in college in Hattiesburg MS and the other lives with her dad in Brandon, MS.  My parents got lonely in VA and decided about 2 months ago to move down to AL and they live about 35 miles away.
