Bring on da noise

Everyone keeps asking me, “So how’s life with three boys?” “It’s great, wonderful, couldn’t be better,” I always reply. But, in truth, if I had to describe life with three boys in one word, it would be … loud. The baby cries. A tower of Legos falls to the floor. Thank you, moms

Today I want to give thanks. Thank you to the moms in my life — my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law, my grandmothers, my aunts, my best friend and especially my own mom. Even before I gave birth, these women taught me what it meant to be a mother. Through the years, they’ve shared their stories, given me advice and led by example. If it weren’t for their lessons, I would not be the mom I am today. So in honor of Mother’s Day, I wanted to share a few of those lessons with you.  Read more >

Body after baby

The first time I went out alone without the baby I met some friends for pedicures. I was about 10 weeks postpartum and not feeling great about how I looked. As my feet soaked, I grabbed the closest People magazine for some mindless reading. There on the front was former Playboy model and reality star Kendra Wilkinson Baskett, showing off her body (no stretch marks, by the way) in a bikini just a couple months after giving birth to her son. “This is not helping me relax,” I said to my friend.  Read more >

Back-to-work blues

As hard as it is being a new mom, being a new working mom can be just as — if not more — difficult. In addition to the e-mails and meetings and conference calls, there are breast pumps and day care drop-offs and the overwhelming feeling of just how much you miss your little one during the hours you’re away from him. For every positive of returning to work, there’s a negative. Some days the positives outweigh the negatives, and vice versa. This week, I hop back on that seesaw of emotions as I return to work after 10 weeks of maternity leave.  Read more >
