Conference Corner: Schedule Updates for BlogHer '12

If you ask me what the best video game ever created it, I will without hesistation tell you that TETЯIS: The Soviet Mind Game by Tengen. You can't get Tengen Tetris anymore; in fact, you couldn't a month or so after it came out. It was really a brilliant video game, even for 8 bit, and it's a big reason why I love working as Conference Programming Manager for BlogHer today. So much of what we do on the Programming Team has to do with fitting square boxes into right angled spaces and making everything flow together seamlessly.  Read more >

Conference Corner: What I Didn't Know About BlogHer Food

BlogHer Food '12

Awkward confession: I've never been to a BlogHer Food conference. I know, this is a terrible thing to confess as the Conference Programming Manager, and I honestly couldn't give you one good excuse as to why I haven't gone before. I mean, I actually blog quite a bit about food, both on my own blog and on my Babble site. I'm an avid cook (sometimes it's even edible, unless it's cookies.). I have a love-love relationship with food, and also with blogging, and yet I've never attended the BlogHer event dedicated to my two favorite things in the world.  Read more >

About Me:

Shannon Carroll is the Conference Programming Manager at BlogHer, and the blogger behind Whiskey In My Sippy Cup, a critically acclaimed blog about nothing in particular. According to the Internet, she is also occasionally Redneck Mommy, which means it must be true.

Shannon started blogging in January of 2005, before the time of plugins and widgets, which is the equivalent of remembering what is was like to use a rotary phone for something other than winning a street fight.

She is the mother of a teenaged son, a tween boy and an elementary-aged daughter, which means that everyone in her house absolutley *loves* K$sha, just for very different reasons. Her husband is in the restaurant industry, so she hasn't actually seen him since that one dinner rush in 1996.

She is a liberal who believes in flat tax, an atheist with an impressive collection of crucifixes, and hates reggee but thinks that Redemption Song may be the finest piece of music ever penned by man. She is terrified of spiders, heights and balloons, dreams of one day being a gangsta rapper and is physically incapable of keeping a hamster alive, or baking cookies.
