I love the stories where someone else’s kids do something stupid. First, it makes me feel good to know my kids aren’t the only ones who get into trouble. Second, I like to hear what the parents did to address their children’s transgressions, because if my kids haven’t done it yet, there may will come a time when they do.  Read more >

I’m No Math Genius…Shhhh…Don’t Tell My Daughter…

My grandfather was a math genius. He was in the Navy during World War II, and rumor has it, he could calculate where to aim the torpedoes faster in his head than they could on paper. This skill meant he was an invaluable asset, and he was taken on submarine mission after submarine mission after submarine mission – something that eventually led to his death.  Read more >

The months leading up to the tragedy were a whirlwind of peer abuse instances, her parents say.”That was the lead paragraph in this piece run by the Huffington Post. My first reaction was heartbreak. About Me: 

I am a stay-at-home mom with a Kindergartner and twin toddlers. In between eating bon bons and watching soap operas (ha ha), I am also a freelance writer. If you think this is a recipe for insanity, you are correct. To help save my sanity (at least I thought so at the time), I launched a website for moms at www.mamasagainstdrama.com with a good friend of mine. In my life before kids, I was the Director of Marketing at a government relations/public relations firm in Washington, DC. Prior to that, I was the Deputy Director of Correspondence and Presidential Messages in the Clinton Administration. Clearly, writing is an itch I just can't scratch. Stay tuned...with twins and a Kindergartner (and sleep deprivation thrown in the mix), you never know what will happen next!
