Sick of sleeping

I am tired of being tired.  I have slept the majority of the past two weeks, and I  hate it.  I hate not being able to wake up.  I hate not getting anything accomplished.  I hate that I know I am missing out on so much.  The excessive fatigue is from the combination of fibromyalgia and hypersomnia and I am so over it.  I had to explain to my daughter that this will not go away, it can't be cured, and I saw the sadness in her eyes and it just about killed me.  Read more >

The Fibro Paradox

Most people with Fibromyalgia know that exercise and activity are supposed to help with fatigue and pain.  The main problem here is that many people with fibro are too tired, and in too much pain to start a program, so we live in this paradoxical state.  I live on my side and view through a flimsy billowing gauze curtain, or perhaps an opaque wall of mist, what my life perhaps could be like if I could only make myself get active.  And on my side, I start to beat myself up that perhaps it’s not the fibro (or the hypersomnia) but perhaps it’s just that I am lazy.  That’s w  Read more >

Vote for Pete's sake!!!!!!!

I wrote this last election, but thought I'd share it again. Here's the thing, not all countries have this thing called "voting". They don't get to pick who makes the decisions in their countries (and don't even try to tell me that we don't either and use the Bush/Kerry ordeal as an example). (And if you don't know what I'm referring to then you should be ashamed of yourself) Living in a place where you don't get to pick who represents you is bad.  Read more >

This is my life.

I look pretty normal from the outside. I am not shriveled or maimed, and my complexion is not ashy, pale or sallow for the most part. Aside from the extra weight I need to lose, I look pretty healthy. However I suffer from fibromyalgia (aside from my back issues) and people don't realize the extent of the problems I deal with on a daily basis or the problems my family lives with due to this. Mentally it is very hard to deal with the fact that I am so tired all of the time. Sometimes house work can knock me down for days, and work takes a huge toll on me.  Read more >

About Me:

I am a 37 year old mother who suffers from fibromyalgia and idiopathic hypersomnia.  I love to read and spend time with my family.  I am all about coexisting.  I make jewelry, play with fire, glass, kilns and am generally crafty.  I am an ADD artist and constantly want to try new mediums and attempt new projects.  If living with two debilitating illnesses isn't difficult enough, my husband, 7 year old daughter, two dogs and myself live with my Italian American mother and aunt and their 5 dogs.  It's never a dull, or a quiet moment to say the least.
