Today I’d like to tell you a little story. It’s a sad story, really. A tragedy in the Greek tradition you might say. A story about hope and love and dedication and generosity that ends in heartbreak and misery. A story about a happy life that was all smashed to pieces by one double-crossing, backstabbing, heartless, little 10-year-old boy.
One day this little boy was given a school assignment. An English assignment to write about the “characters” in his own life. He was furnished with a set of questions to help prompt his thoughts on these real-life characters....more
I'm not particularly fond of Valentine's Day or V-day as I like to call it in solidarity with other national holidays recognizing historic moments of strife. But I do try to show my affection and appreciation for my husband at least once a year, and V-Day is as good a time as any. The only problem is on the one day I try to show my love it's hard to find the right gift. I might be the only one, but I haven’t taken my daughter to the spa. And I don’t plan to.This notion I realize is passé. Mother/daughter duos have become a common scene in nail salons across the nation. Everyone is doing it or has done it....more
