Session description: Blogging started as a geek’s game, and by 2004 political bloggers were making waves and mainstream media news. Post-BlogHer 2005 the rise of the MommyBloggers, first as cultural, then as commercial, force began. So where does that leave the rest of us…blogging about who we are and what we do with as much dedication, passion and amazing writing as any of those other blogging archetypes? We know that many of you who don’t fit neatly into the above boxes share the same concerns:  Read more >

About Me:
I am one of those weird hybrid people who loves working in the business world, yet thrives on creativity. I have worked in all sorts of environments (startups, corporate, small biz and University), in all sorts of positions (web product management, online marketing, event production), for the past 15 years. Over the years, I have been quite lucky to work with amazing people doing amazing things. While I treasure those moments, I’m so excited about the next phase of my life as a Graduate Student at Southern Illinois University.

While pursuing my passion of media making (film/video/new media) in school, I am also working as the Graduate assistant in the Marketing department at the SIU Student Recreation Center. I am responsible for developing strategy and managing the social networks for the center. I love my job as I am not only passionate about marketing, but I get to flex my creative muscles by creating videos to help showcase the facility.

I am currently working on my first documentary, “Jake and Janie”  which is about my parents and their struggles through 40 years of marriage (including gambling, health, and money Issues, etc). Heck, I am even part of the story (not just as their daughter) In October of this year (2012), my father will celebrate 10 years of new life thanks to my kidney.

On another personal note, in April, I will be married for two years to my incredible wife,Melissa. We hope that someday, (very soon please) we can claim the same rights that we have in our home state of Illinois to every other state in the US and beyond.
