Amniotic Band Syndrome (ABS) also called Amniotic Constriction Band Syndrome is a set of congenital birth defects believed to be caused by entrapment of fetal parts (usually a limb or digits) in fibrous amniotic bands while in utero. In other words: Before the baby was born the body part(s) that was affected by ABS (arm, fingers, toes, etc.,) was caught up and entangled in string-like bands. As most of you know hubby has Multiple Sclerosis. He was diagnosed in 1990ish at the age of 19 years old. When we were married hubby hadrelapsing-remitting ms. The best way to describe this is like stairs. RRMS is characterized by clearly defined attacks followed by complete or partial recovery. This is the most common form of MS.
