TheGirlfriendGroup was founded in the summer of 2009, two months after the untimely death of my sister Valerie. Val and I talked a great deal about how girlfriends were the most important people in a woman's life. A single parent of a special needs child, Val relied heavily on the support of her girlfriends. They were her backbone, her counselors, her soul mates. After her passing, I needed an outlet for my grief. I sat down on my couch with my cousin Naomi across from me and TheGirlfriendGroup was born on August 22, 2009.
Today, the group has evolved into a global online community for women. Our mission: women helping women in all aspects of life. Network. Share.Encourage is our tagline and our goal is to facilitate unity, empowermen and adopt non-adversarial mindsets. We are a highly inclusive group and welcome all women. There are no other requirements necessary to join our group. That is our competitive advantage and that is what we advocate.
