In just a few days, all of us attending BlogHer Food '12 will gather in Seattle to meet new food blogger friends, reconnect with the people we haven't seen in awhile, and learn as much as we can in 48 whirlwind hours. There's going to be a lot of talking over the two days: presentations from the main dais at plenary sessions; chatting at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the event's parties; and conversations between panelists and the audience at the breakout sessions.
A month from today, BlogHer Food '12 will be winding down in Seattle. Can you believe it? We hardly can! There's just so much to do between now and then -- which includes registering for this amazing conference if you haven't yet done so! We're still working to bring you some interesting, bite-sized interviews from our amazing speakers every week, and this week I stepped outside of the food box and asked a thought-provoking question:

Last year's closing party at Food '11 in Atlanta had it all; delicious food, danceable music, and lots of BlogHer friends. A standard was definitely set. Living gluten-free isn't easy. You have to watch what you eat. And then there's the fear. What if what I ordered isn't gluten-free? What if they didn't prepare it in a separate pan? What if my friend used a wooden cutting board for this fruit? Do I risk it? I really started to worry after getting sick from food at my parents' house. Since my diagnosis, they have done everything to learn about celiac disease and make their kitchen safe for me, but if I can't eat safely at their house, where can I eat?
The grilled cheese sandwich is a very celebration of comfort. From purists who wouldn't dream of anything but two slices of buttery white bread containing a melted slice or two of American cheese to the more adventurous cheeselover, I know very few people who will turn down a hot, slightly greasy grilled cheese sandwich. ...more
