Second Thoughts and Second Chances

I did a really scary thing today. I quit my job. Or at least, I gave notice. The worst part? I don't have another job lined up. I'm terrified. I left for several reasons, and I think to elaborate on all of them would be unprofessional, so I will refrain. One of the reasons, though, is that I just didn't think that line of work was for me anymore. On that, I will elaborate. I graduated a couple of years ago from college. It took me a while to find a job and so when I found one, I jumped on the opportunity.  Read more >

A Formidable Opponent

He asked not for whom the bell tolled. Even if it was a cowbell. Nick Bell was a twenty year old Defensive End for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He was number thirty-six. He was too young to die. Nick was from Alabama and was recruited by multiple SEC schools, but chose to attend MSU. His stats did not disappoint the Bulldog faithful. He played with his heart. And now, our hearts break for his family. Merely a few weeks ago, Nick reported having strange headaches in practice. When he went to the doctor, they found a tumor. That is when the nightmare began.  Read more >

Why I Try Not to Over-Edit My Blog Posts

blog

At the risk of sounding like Popeye the Sailor Man, I am what I am. What I am is a blogger who isn't perfect, among other things (all of which could still be followed by "who isn't perfect" - just to be clear). When I write my posts for my blog I break a lot of grammar rules. No, really. A lot.  Read more >

Waffles vs. Spaghetti: The Breakdown of Communication Between Men and Women

So I have this theory...actually, my husband told me about this theory a long time ago and neither of us can remember where it came from. It is entirely possible that some great mind came up with it, but all I know is that it is a relatively simple concept that helps me understand why my husband has no idea what I'm talking about sometimes.  Read more >

About Me:

I am in my mid-twenties and am married to a wonderful man. He's an accountant. He's still wonderful. I was born and raised in the South. I have two undergraduate degrees from Mississippi State University, where I graduated summa cum laude from the International Business program in 2008.

I do not write a food blog, because my cooking skills are minimal at best. I am a fantastic eater, though. Too good, actually, but that is a whole different subject.

My family is crazy. Not, let's all go to group therapy, crazy. More like, we all need therapy but claim that we think therapists are quacks, crazy. We have been through a lot together and we love each other, even if you can't tell. We don't hug and get "mushy" like some families. It is when we are making fun of each other and almost at the brink of family war that you can tell how much we really value one another. I told you, crazy. It's okay, though, we totally own it.

I have a great dog who is both super smart and completely stupid. He is a boxer, if you know anything about the breed, that is really all I need to say. We rescued him in May 2010. I already have trouble remembering life without him. He's awesome. He is also not a half-bad alarm clock. He doesn't believe in snooze, so he will come lick your face or jump in the bed if you don't get up the first time.

I'm a day dreamer. I'm a ponderer. I'm not quiet. I am loud, actually, really loud. It's like I have no natural volume control. That or I'm half deaf. I can't decide. I am opinionated. I have no problem speaking my mind. Consequently, I often stick my foot in my mouth. Often. Regularly. A lot.

I am a total sports fan. I live for competition. I do not like pro sports, though, for reasons that are outlined in a blog post on my site. Mainly, pro athletes, for all their discipline and endurance, are really just big ol' cry babies. Yes, your car insurance is astronomical because of the crazy epensive luxury vehicle you drive. No, I really don't care and I have no sympathy for you. Drive a Honda and quit complaining.

I am a Christian. This does not mean that I think I am perfect. On the contrary, it means I have admitted that I am the complete opposite and have turned to the Lord for help. I am not a perfect example of my faith. I do and say the wrong things at the wrong times. The Lord loves me anyway and that is the most powerful feeling I have ever known and I wouldn't trade it for the entire world.

I'm chatty. I love to talk to people, but not on the phone. I don't know why. I love to make new friends and I really love reminiscing about good times with old friends.

I am a contradiction (note the whole, I'm a ponderer followed by the sticking foot in mouth concept). I'm okay with that. I'm also a total geek. I'm cool with that, too.

I LOVE to read. I have this dream to one day have a personal library like the one in Beauty and the Beast. Oh, also, I am really into Disney. I am the Disney Trivia champion. Who dares challenge my title?

That is me, in a really, really big nutshell. If you get brave enough, hop on over to my blog and learn more.
