Things are looking up!

May is here and I’m thrilled to say that I made it to payday with $223 in my checking account and $13 in my wallet.  This is a grand total of 236, yay me!  At the end of last month I had $32, so this is a big improvement.  I have also $130 in a savings account, thanks to an automatic transfer program at my bank.  Read more >

Squeezing the money to fit the budget!

It’s been an interesting week of reflection and perspective.  Over the weekend I watched Michael Moore’s Capitalism: A Love Story.  It was eye-opening and heart-breaking.  While I feel that my situation is difficult and I’m struggling, I am in no danger of losing my home.  Even in the midst of all of the current craziness – I never have been.  I purchased my home during the time when all the questionable loans were being given.  Read more >

Trying to survive February on a budget

February….  I started the month a little nervous, but kind of excited.  The combination of nerves and excitement was evident in my first foray of grocery shopping on a budget.  That trip ended up being a 3 hour ordeal.  I studied the circulars for Publix and Kroger and scoured the coupons.  I was determined to maximize my money.  Read more >

About Me:
Hi. I am Tracy and I live in Georgia. By day, I work as an administrator in a research department but I have a deep desire to write and edit others' writing. I am here because I am in the middle of a personal journey.... 1. I am nearing the end of my 40th year; I will be 41 in March. I have never been married and I don't have children. I have spent much of my 40th year contemplating the fact that my life isn't exactly what I had hoped for, dreamed of and prayed for. 2. A year ago I weighed 403 pounds. To date I have lost 60 pounds. I know that I have a long way to go, but I'm up for the challenge. 3. I am seeking financial peace. 2009 gave me a fiscal reality check and I have entered 2010 with great resolve to "get it together" financially. 4. I am learning how to negotiate a long-term relationship. I've known Pete for nearly 17 years and probably loved him for most of that time. He was out of my life for many years, but he's back and I am definitely in love with him. I'm not however, the same naive, inexperienced girl I was when I first met him. It's a whole new ball game now. My plan was to create a blog about my journey to financial peace. The problem with limiting my blog to fiscal issues is that all the entities of my life - the things I mentioned above, my family and friends, my faith and church activities, and my job, all impact my "pocketbook." So, I will speak to my financial journey, but will have to do so within the greater context of my life. I hope you'll read something here that speaks to your own situation. Here's to an awesome 2010 and moving toward financial peace! Cheers! Tracy
